UN staffs to donate one-day salary to Mongolia

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ Deputy Prime Minister U.Enkhtuvshin reports that staffs who are working at all affiliated organizations of the United Nations to Mongolia are to donate their one-day salary to Mongolia.
The Deputy PM today received United Nations Resident Coordinator Mr. Tapan Mishra and World Health Organization’s Representative in Mongolia Sergey Diorditsa. When giving briefings to the press about the result of the meeting, the Deputy PM emphasized the aforementioned donation.
He said “Mongolia is one of the countries that are at high risk of spread of COVID-19 infection. Specifically, the country shares the longest land border (4709.6 km) with China, where the virus infection originated. Moreover, 49 thousand Mongolian citizens are living in the Republic of Korea, where the virus is intensively spreading. During the meeting, I put forth a request to the UN Resident Coordinator in Mongolia to provide 500 thousand face masks for the vulnerable and civil servants who are working to prevent from COVID-19 infection. The Resident Coordinator accepted the request and expressed to resolve it in the near future. In addition, representatives of the two organizations informed that the UN and the WHO are making a list to donate the required test kits and other medical equipment and medicines to Mongolia.”
