Snowfall expected in the southern region

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. Snow is expected in the southern region in the coming days, reports the National Agency of Meteorology and Environment Monitoring.


Snowfall is expected in some parts of the western aimags on January 15, in the eastern part of western aimags, in the southern part of central aimags, and in the Gobi region on January 16. Wind speed will reach 6-11 m/sec during most of the period. 


In the depression of Lake Uvs and Darkhad, in the head of Zavkhan river, in the basins of Ider and Tes rivers, the temperature will range from -36 to -41 degrees Celsius during the night, and -26 to -31 during the day.


In mountainous areas of Khangai, Khuvsgul, and Khentei, in the depression of the Great Lakes, and in the basins of Baidrag, Eg-Uur, Orkhon-Selenge, Kharaa, Yuruu, Kherlen, Onon and Ulz rivers, the temperature will be -28 to -33 during the night, and -17 to -22 during the day.


In the southern Gobi region, the temperature will be -17 to -22 during the night, and -6 to -11 during the day.


In other areas, the night-time temperature will be -22 to -27 degrees Celsius, and daytime temperature will be -13 to -18 degrees Celsius.
