Snowfall expected before New Year’s Eve

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. Snow and blizzards are expected in most parts of the country on December 28, in the eastern region on December 29, and in the eastern parts of eastern aimags on December 30.
Wind speed will reach 14-16 m/sec in most parts of the country on December 28, and in the Gobi and plains in December 29.
With temperature drops throughout the country, in the depression of Darkhad, in the head of Zavkhan river, in the basins of Ider and Tes rivers, the temperature will range from -40 to -45 degrees Celsius during the night, and -30 to -35 during the day.
In the depression of Lake Uvs, near Khurenbelchir, in mountainous areas of Khangai, Khuvsgul and Khentei, and in the basins of Eg-Uur, Orkhon-Selenge, Kharaa, Yuruu, Tuul, Terelj, Kherlen, Onon and Ulz rivers, the temperature will be -33 to -38 during the night, and -21 to -26 during the day.
In the southern Gobi region, the temperature will be -20 to -25 during the night, and -10 to -15 during the day.
In other areas, the night-time temperature will be -27 to -32 degrees Celsius, and daytime temperature will be -16 to -21 degrees Celsius.
The cold will ease in the western region on December 30, and in most parts of the country on December 31.
