Parliament Speaker attends MUST’s new academic year launch event

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. On August 28, Parliament Speaker G.Zandanshatar attended the opening ceremony of the academic year of the Mongolian University of Science and Technology (MUST). With 65 undergraduate programs, 143 graduate programs, and 86 doctoral programs, the University’s ten faculties will receive 2300 new students for the academic year of 2019/2020 adding to its current around 21 thousand students.  Since its establishment, the university has more than 80 thousand graduates, who are making their own contributions to the development of Mongolian society, economy and industry. 


In his opening remarks, Parliament Speaker G.Zandanshatar, wishing good luck for the new academic sessions to the students, reiterated the importance of the ‘intellectual people’ to the future growth of the country and that the state-owned higher education institutions are in the forefront of the development of the education sector in Mongolia. 


Dr. Prof. B.Ochirbat, Dean of the MUST, introduced the university’s goal to become a research-based institution and corresponding measures, including an establishment of a new school building of start-up companies, laboratories, open education centers, a college and a museum. Also, 26 programs of the MUST were updated using the CDIO initiative is an innovative educational framework. 


In this regard, some 130 students of the MUST completed this year’s Student-Soldier program, showing great success during their military training.
