Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ On the occasion of International Day of Cooperatives, a discussion themed ‘International Day of Cooperatives: Decent work’ was held on July 8 at the UN Headquarters.
Representatives of the UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs, International Labour Organization and International Cooperative Alliance participated in the event, discussing the need to increase the role of cooperatives in achieving SDGs and effective use of their potential.
Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary and Permanent Representative of Mongolia to the United Nations S.Sukhbold participated in the discussion, introducing the Government’s policy and current state of cooperatives in Mongolia.
Mongolia has been actively contributing to the international effort to support cooperatives, initiating the resolution on ‘Cooperatives in social development’, which was adopted at the 70th session of the United Nations General Assembly.
