Measles vaccine presented by UNICEF

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. A ceremony took place to receive the measles vaccine for 577,000 people donated by UNICEF at the Vaccine and Biopreparation Center of the National Center for Communicable Diseases on May 13.

Minister of Health D.Sarangerel and UNICEF Representative in Mongolia Alex Heikens signed an acknowledgement of receipt for the vaccine, syringe and safety kit worth a total of USD 500,000.


The vaccine will be used for vaccinating children between the ages of 5 to 18 in Bayan-Ulgii, Bayankhongor, Gobi-Altai, Zavkhan, Uvs and Khovd aimags as well those between the ages of 10-18 in other aimags and the capital city during the nation-wide supplementary vaccination on May 15-25.


Mentioning that the Government of Mongolia and UNICEF are partnering in making good quality vaccination services accessible to all children, purchasing vaccines that meet the standards of WHO at a discounted price, and in providing equipment for vaccine and biopreparation, Minister D.Sarangerel expressed her gratitude for providing the necessary vaccine, syringe and safety kits during the time of need, and expressed her hopes of further developing partnership.
