Third phase of ‘Sustainable Agriculture’ project implements

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. The third phase of the German-Mongolian cooperation project, ‘Sustainable Agriculture’, is currently being implemented since January 2019. The first meeting of the Project management committee took place in Ulaanbaatar on April 12.


Representatives of the Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture of Germany, GFA Consulting Group and project implementing unit, IAK Agrar Consulting GmbH, specialist of Embassy of Federal Republic of Germany in Mongolia as well as representatives of corresponding departments of the Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Light Industry and the Mongolian University of Life Sciences attended the meeting.


Head of Department of Crop Production Industry Policy Management at the Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Light Industry, head of the Project management committee Ts.Bolorchuluun noted the importance of the project in developing seed farms as well as risk management and sustainable use of soil in the agriculture sector, and expressed that the Ministry will support as well as partner in implementing the project.


Representative of the Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture of German, Ms.N.Konle passed on the greetings from the Minister Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture of Germany, expressing satisfaction in the good results of the second phase of the project, and the implementation of the third phase. Project leader, Dr.A.Kather introduced the work that was done last year in the frameworks of the second phase as well as the concept and plan for the third phase.


During the meeting, project specialist Dr.B.Erdenebolor also did a presentation on the results of his research, and held a discussion, of which suggestions put forth by the participants have been decided to be implemented in the project plans.

As this year marks the 60th anniversary of the farming sector being developed to become an independent sector based on science, the committee came to the decision to coordinate some of the project activities with the anniversary celebration.
