Mongolian delegation attends sixth Asia-Pacific Forum on Sustainable Development in Bangkok

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ The sixth session of the Asia-Pacific Forum on Sustainable Development (APFSD) was convened under the theme “Empowering people and ensuring inclusiveness and equality” in Bangkok, Thailand on 27–29 March 2019. The annual Forum discussed regional perspectives on the implementation, follow-up and review of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, including in depth review of the region’s progress on SDG 4 (Quality education), 8 (Decent work and economic growth), 10 (Reduced inequalities), 13 (Climate action), 16 (Peace, justice and strong institutions) and 17 (Partnerships for the Goals). The outcome of the 6th APFSD will serve as regional contribution to the work of the High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development to be held at the United Nations Headquarters in New York in July 2019.



The Mongolian delegation headed by Her Excellency Ms. Bulgantuya Khurelbaatar, Vice Minister of Finance attended the 6th APFSD. During the forum, H.E. Ms. Bulgantuya Khurelbaatar served as a panelist on the Agenda item 2: Regional perspectives on progress of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and introduced the policies and actions taken by the Government of Mongolia towards implementing the 2030 Agenda for SDGs. As Mongolia is preparing its National Voluntary Review to be presented at the High-level Political Forum on Sustainable Development in July 2019, head of the Mongolian delegation shared with participants of the forum the country’s experiences of preparation process and achievements made as of now. Furthermore, H.E. Ms. Bulgantuya Khurelbaatar took part in the Roundtable discussions on implementation SDG 10 and served as its rapporteur at the 6th APFSD.



On the sidelines of the forum, H.E. Ms. Bulgantuya Khurelbaatar had a meeting with Her Excellency Ms. Armida Salsiah Alisjahbana, Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations and Executive Secretary of the Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP), during which they discussed the issues related to Mongolia-ESCAP cooperation.
