MP.Yo.Baatarbileg receives UNFPA Mongolia Country Representative

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ MP and Head of Parliamentary Standing Committee on Social Policy, Education, Culture and Science, Yo.Baatarbileg on January 9, met with Country Representative for United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) in Mongolia, Naomi Kitahara.


At the meeting, Ms. Naomi Kitahara informed the UN decided to withdraw UNFPA Country Representative from Mongolia and that Beate Trankmann, UN Development Programme Resident Representative in Mongolia will take the charge. Therefore, the projects and programs planned to be jointly implemented will set up through UNFPA Vietnam Country Office. She also noted the projects to be implemented between 2019 and 2021 will continue as the UNFPA staff will be still working in Mongolia.


"We have planned to primarily focus on population aging, women's rights, gender equality, youth development, and reproductive health of young people in the future," Ms. Naomi Kitahara added.


In turn, MP Yo.Baatarbileg expressed gratitude to Ms. Naomi Kitahara for always supporting Mongolian people, being attentive towards the achievement of  Mongolia’s sustainable development goals and development, health, education of the population, as well as implementing many beneficial projects in Mongolia.
