Deputy Prime Minister meets delegates of Russian Railways

Ulaanbaatar/MONTSAME/ Deputy Prime Minister U.Enkhtuvshin met with Russian delegates led by O.V.Belozyorov, President of the Russian Railways on December 14.

Mr. Enkhtuvshin said that the both countries need to attach importance to cooperation in railway and transportation sector and that fruitful and constructive operation of ‘Ulaanbaatar Railways’ Mongolian-Russian joint stock company is actual evidence of joint efforts.

He expressed pleasure with Russian government and Russian Railways paying special attention on the development and modernization of Ulaanbaatar Railways.  

Ulaanbaatar Railways made a record freight transportation of 3 million tons in 2017. According to statistics of this year, it is likely to have a 17 percent increase, for which the sides expressed their satisfactions. They had a same position on crucial needs of large investment to the renovation of railroad embankment.   

Over USD110 million worth investment has been made so far and some of the planned works have been complete. The sides estimate that if works planned for 2019-2020 are completely done, its capacity can be increased by 28 percent.
