Members of Mongolia-UK Parliamentary Group visit London

delegation led by MP, head of Mongolia-UK Parliamentary Group in the Parliament
S.Batbold made a working visit to London from October 27 to November 2 at the
invitation of the All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) on Mongolia in the UK
Parliament. The delegation included MPs D.Lundeejantsan, M.Oyunchimeg,
Ya.Sanjmyatav, and N.Uchral.
John Grogan, MP and chairman of
the APPG on Mongolia welcomed the delegation and guided them to the Westminster
House. Thereafter, during the Question Time to of the Foreign and
Commonwealth Office, the UK parliament for the first time brought up issue on Mongolia-UK relations. The Secretary of State for Foreign and
Commonwealth Affairs answered questions made by the MPs. Durng the discussion, Mongolia’s foreign cooperation, specifically, relations with Russia, China, the Republic
of Korea and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, and policy on foreign
investment attracted great interest from the UK MPs, informed MP, head of the
parliamentary Standing Committee on Petition M.Oyunchimeg.
During the visit, the MPs met
with some members of UK Parliament and MP, UK Trade
Envoy to Mongolia Julian Knight.
The delegation also got acquainted
with operation of the London Stock Exchange during which views were exchanged
on the broad opportunity of elevating the cooperation between Mongolian Stock
Exchange and London Stock Exchange. Moreover, Antonella Amedei. Head of Global Business
Development and Market Infrastructure Sales at London Stock Exchange Group,
expressed readiness to provide support in bringing Mongolia’s stock market at
international level and successfully privatizing state‐owned
enterprises of the country.
The visit was made on the
occasion of the 55th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Mongolia and
the UK, which is being marked this year.
