Fourth Chinggis Invitational kicks off

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ The fourth Chinggis Invitational, a chess tournament which was successfully held in San Francisco from 2015 to 2017, is being organized on August 8-16 at the Chinggis Chess Club of Mongolia. This is the first ever ‘A’ class chess tournament in Mongolia, involving chess players with an Elo rating higher than 2500.

Opening ceremony of the tournament was attended by G.Zandanshatar, Head of the Cabinet Secretariat and President of Mongolian Chess Federation. Mr.G.Zandanshatar wished success to the grandmasters, noting that the tournament is of great importance for the development of chess in Mongolia. He also highlighted that free of charge tournament admission for everyone is a good opportunity to watch grandmasters’ games from close and gain experience.  

10 chess players from India, Azerbaijan, Russia, the USA and Mongolia including Honored Athlete of Mongolia, four-time national champion and grandmaster Ts.Batchuluun, national champion S.Bilguun as well as gold and silver medalist of the World School Chess Championship Ts.Lkhagvasuren are competing in the tournament.

Additionally, the highest ranked competitor is the youngest grandmaster of the USA Ray Robson.
