Mongolia-Germany cooperation reviewed

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ Minister of Environment and Tourism N.Tserenbat met with Claudia Warning, Director General of the Middle East, Asia, Latin America and Eastern Europe Department of the Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).

During the meeting, a special agreement on the 2nd phase commencement of the ‘Biodiversity and Adaptation to Climate Change’ project was signed. Under the intergovernmental agreement between Mongolia and the Federal Republic of Germany, numerous technical and financial cooperation projects have been implemented in the environment sector over the past 20 years. The Minister of Environment and Tourism expressed gratitude for its benefits to Mongolia’s environment sector. The first phase of the project was implemented in Central, Khangai and Eastern regions through the KfW Development Bank. The second phase, financed with EUR 19.5 million overall, is to be implemented in the Western and Gobi regions of the Special Protected Areas, starting from January 2019.



The meeting was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Environment and Tourism, BMZ and German Embassy to Mongolia. The sides exchanged views on ‘comprehensive partnership’ between the two countries.
