Project for rural communities submitted to Green Climate Fund

Ulaanbaatar/MONTSAME/ Beate Trankmann, the UN Resident Coordinator and UNDP Resident Representative, introduced a project ‘Improving Adaptive Capacity and Risk Management of Rural Communities in Mongolia,’ submitted to the Green Climate Fund (GCF).

At the meeting on December 5 with Food, Agriculture and Light Industry Minister B. Batzorig, she underlined that the project correlates with goals, policy and programs of the ministry and expressed her commitment to cooperate effectively.

The project will be implemented with non-refundable assistance worth USD23 million and aims at improving lives of rural communities, reducing risks and decreasing migration caused by poverty.

Minister B. Batzorig supported the project and talked about collaborating to implement the project. The Minister also expressed the ministry's position to strengthen cooperation with the UN within the Sustainable Development Goals.

Present at the meeting were Daniela Gasparikova, UNDP's Deputy Resident Representative and B.Bunchingiv, Programme Analyst on Climate Change.
