Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ A documentary is being made on the Khoridol Saridag Strictly Protected Area in Khuvsgul aimag, as this year marks the 20th anniversary of its establishment.

The Department for Protected Areas Management of the Ministry of Environment and Tourism is making the documentary themed ‘Protecting the Khoridol Saridag Strictly Protected Area’, with support of ADB-funded ‘Integrated Livelihoods Improvement and Sustainable Tourism in Khuvsgul Lake National Park Project’.

The documentary will feature the historic development of the Khoridol Saridag Strictly Protected Area, comparing the years 2007 and 2017 and highlighting the evolutions of the last decade.

The Parliament adopted a resolution in 1997 to classify the unique 188,634 ha land surrounding the Khoridol Saridag Mountains as strictly protected area, which was expanded into 226,672 ha in 2008.
