Foreign Minister meets Ambassador of Kuwait

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ On Friday, Foreign Minister D.Tsogtbaatar met Khaled Al-Fadhli, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Kuwait to Mongolia and they exchanged views on bilateral relations and cooperation.
The Ambassador conveyed congratulatory greeting to Foreign Minister D.Tsogtbaatar from Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, First Deputy Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kuwait. He also expressed his gratitude on Mongolia’s support for electing Kuwait as a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council in 2018-2019.
Minister D.Tsogtbaatar mentioned Mongolia and Kuwait are developing bilateral relations and cooperating actively in environment and humanitarian sectors and he underlined the importance of collaborating in cultural and sports sectors, supporting small and medium enterprises, attracting investments to them and implementing joint projects further. Mongolia and Kuwait established diplomatic relations on June 17, 1975.
Kuwait granted soft loan of USD 78.04 million to Mongolia and USD 58.26 million was spent for construction of 415 km road in route Darkhan-Erdenet, Erdenet-Bulgan-Unit-Tarialan and USD 19.78 million for building ‘Taishir’ hydro power plant in Gobi-Altai aimag. Moreover Kuwait made investment of USD 3.4 million for establishment of Mongolia-Kuwait Research Center in Zaisan.
The first meeting of the Mongolia-Kuwait Inter-Governmental Commission was held in May, 2017 in Kuwait and during the meeting agreement on granting non-refundable aid of USD8 million for construction of the National Burn Center building was signed and entered into force.
