UNESCAP is ready to help Mongolia work out Agenda for Sustainable Development

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs D.Davaasuren met Thursday Kaveh Zahedi, Deputy Executive Secretary of the UN Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP).

At the meeting, the parties expressed their satisfaction with a current state of the cooperation between Mongolia and the UNESCAP and exchanged views on possibilities of further collaboration in implementing the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, strengthen functions of the International Think Tank for Landlocked Developing Countries, empowering young specialists on making commercial negotiations and employing them in international organizations.

State Secretary D.Davaasuren briefed about an implementation course of the Mongolia’s 2030 Sustainable Development Vision and then expressed Mongolia’s willingness to collaborate with the UNESCAP and technical assistance for working out a middle-term policy on reaching the sustainable developmental goals.
In his turn, Kaveh Zahed said the UNESCAP aspires to continue its cooperation with Mongolia in trade, investment, environment, statistics and infrastructure, reducing poverty rate and protecting rights of landlocked developing countries.

“The UNESCAP intends to update the Asia Pacific Sustainable Development Outlook in this year, which identifies and consolidates implementation of each goal of sustainable development. I hope this outlook would contribute to a realization of the Mongolia’s 2030 Sustainable Development Vision,” he said.The sides talked about ensuring preparation works for the upcoming Asian Ministerial Conference for Disaster Risk Reduction (AMCDRR) to be on July, 2018 in Ulaanbaatar.
