President Kh.Battulga: Mind athletes to be supported

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ The President of Mongolia Kh.Battulga pledged to support and sponsor mind athletes when he received Monday students and teachers who successfully competed in international scientific Olympiads.

“I supported mind athletes in some period, resulting some success. I truly congratulate those students and teachers on their brilliant success at international Olympiads. It proves that Mongolians are fully competitive in tournaments of intelligence,” he said.

The President suggested that Olympiads and mind sport contests should be organized in several stages throughout districts, aimags, cities and country, and it should be promoted by national broadcasters.
            
“Committees on national Olympiads for mathematics, chemistry and physics operate at the Ministry of Education, Culture and Science. Now we have to set up a unified NGO for national Olympiads because NGO works more actively and creatively with less bureaucracy,” he added.

In response, a physicist N.Tegshbayar thanked the President for encouraging youths with high intelligence.


            
Mongolian students collected silver and bronze medals in this year’s international scientific Olympiads. Took place in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil, Mongolian students grabbed one silver and two bronze medals in the 58th International Mathematics Olympiads, while a pupil from Orkhon aimag Suvdanchimeg won a bronze medal in the 49th International Chemistry Olympiad held in Thailand.
            
All students of the national team claimed medals at the 50th International Physics Olympiad which was participated by 396 students from 86 countries. As the team result, Mongolia took 28th place in this Olympiad.
            
This year, students and teachers competed in the Olympiads with own expenses.
