Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ In celebration of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of U.S.-Mongolia diplomatic relations, the U.S. Embassy in Ulaanbaatar is proud to host members of the Philadelphia Orchestra for a June 1-4, 2017, visit to Mongolia.

The Philadelphia Orchestra is one of the world’s preeminent orchestras, renowned for its distinctive sound, high level of artistic quality, and ability to create powerful musical experiences for audiences in the United States and around the world. The orchestra is committed to collaborating with cultural and community organizations on a regional and national level, which creates greater access to and engagement with classical music as an art form. Through concerts, tours, residencies, presentations, and recordings, the Philadelphia Orchestra is a global ambassador for the city of Philadelphia and for the United States.

During their visit to Mongolia, members of the Philadelphia Orchestra will interact with professional musicians, youth, leading figures of the cultural community, and the public. The visit’s highlight will be a free public concert on June 3 at 6:30 p.m. at the Mongolian State Philharmonic concert hall.

Public events will include:
June 2, 3:30 p.m.: Arts administration lecture by Philadelphia Orchestra Association Executive Vice President for Orchestra Advancement Ryan Fleur at the American Corner at the Ulaanbaatar Public Library

June 3, 11:00 a.m.: “International Children’s Week” free public concert by a Philadelphia Orchestra string quartet at the Children’s Palace

June 3, 12:00 p.m.: Free pop-up public concert by a Philadelphia Orchestra brass quintet at the Beatles Statue area on the south side of the State Department Store

June 3, 6:30 p.m.: “Friendship Melodies – Celebrating 30 Years of Partnership” free public concert by members of the Philadelphia Orchestra at the Mongolian State Philharmonic concert hall
