IM Power proposes to build power plant near major coal mine in Gobi

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ On May 18, Prime Minister J.Erdenebat received a delegation headed by Mr Gordon Dickie, Managing Director of IM Power, and Ms Catherine Arnold, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of UK to Mongolia. The guests presented their request to build power plant based on Shivee Ovoo coal deposit. The project would cost around USD 1.2 billion.
The power plant can be a reliable energy supplier for southern and eastern region of Mongolia, say the delegates.
PM J.Erdenebat tasked Energy Minister P.Gankhuu to organize research on feasibilities to build such a power plant in the location and report the findings. The premier expressed his hope that the project, if implemented, would increase investors’ trust toward Mongolia.
Present were also the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Mongolia to UK, Mr S.Bayar.
