President attends “Sound Management of Natural Resources-2” Int’l Workshop

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ On the sidelines of his working visit to the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, the President of Mongolia Tsakhiagiin Elbegdorj attended an International Workshop themed “Sound Management and Natural Resources-2” held in Naypyidaw on June 15.

It is co-organized by International Cooperation Fund of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Mongolia and the Oslo Center in connection with the working visit of the Mongolian President. 

President Elbegdorj met with the paritcipants of the workshop and briefed about the events organized within the framework of Mongolia-initiated International Cooperation Fund. The workshop organized in Naypyidaw is the continue of the previous workshop held in March in Ulaanbaatar.

More than 80 high level representatives from Mongolia, Myanmar, Kyrgyz Republic and Timor-Leste are participating in the workshop to discuss the development of mining sector, its achievements and challenges.

Mr. Ohn Win, Minister of Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation of Myanmar and Mr. R.Jigjid, Minister of Mining of Mongolia, addressed the workshop. 

With a view of sharing its experience and achievements in strengthening democracy with the new and transitioning democracies, Mongolia is cooperating with Myanmar, Kyrgyz Republic, Timor-Leste on developing good governance, growth, and sound management of natural resources.

High level participants, including former Prime Minister of Norway and President of the Oslo Center Mr. Kjell Bondevik, former Prime Minister of Bhutan Mr. Jigme Thinley and Minister of Petroleum of Timor-Leste H.E. Mr. Alfredo Pires will deliver presentations and engage in debates on their countries’ mining sector development, and implementation of the policies and programs.
