President Ts.Elbegdorj meets US Secretary of State
PoliticsUlaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ President of Mongolia Ts.Elbegdorj met Sunday John Kerry United States Secretary who is on the official visit, in his Residence in the Ikh Tenger Complex.
The President Elbegdorj welcomed the US Secretary of State John Kerry and expressed hope that his visit will promote the further improvement of bilateral relations and cooperation between the two countries.
The US Secretary of State John Kerry expressed pleasure over his visit to Mongolia and emphasized Mongolia’s efforts and achievements in democratic development. On behalf of the President Barack Obama and the people of the United States, he appreciated the people of Mongolia for their contribution to the world’s peacekeeping missions, for being global citizens and for sharing their lessons learned in democratic transition with the world countries.
Elbegdorj appreciated the USA for its support and assistance to Mongolia’s democratic transition since the very start. He expressed Mongolia’s willingness to continue deepening and strengthening the bilateral relationship with the United States - important third neighbor. The President noted that in 2017, marks the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Mongolia and the United States and in the scope of the anniversary the both countries will hold a number of events of mutual cooperation. Concluding the meeting, President Elbegdorj wished the US Secretary of State John Kerry a successful visit and wished success in his future endeavors.
Present at the meeting were L.Purevsuren, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Mongolia; B.Altangerel, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Mongolia to the USA; Jennifer Zimdahl Galt, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United States to Mongolia; A.Battor, an advisor to the President on foreign policy; and other officials.
