Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ Chairman of the State Great Khural Z.Enkhbold began his working visit to Japan on Wednesday.

On the first day of the visit, the Speaker got familiar with activities of the “Nakaso” thermal power plant which introduced the technology of integrated gasification combined cycle (IGCC) invented by the Fukushima Prefecture-based Joban Power Company. Engineer-general of the “Nakaso” power plant Ishibashi said this plant built up in 1955 has the capability of 1.7 million KWT and employs 240 people.

“Coal was the most important raw material rather than other materials for producing energy and heat. The power plant’s 10th oven bears 250 MWT, while three coal chambers produce electricity by gasifying coal. This plant no longer uses coal exploited from local mines, and now it imports all of its raw material,” Ishibashi said.

Noting that Japan succeeded in developing technology of energy production from coal by allocating a huge amount of money, the Speaker said Mongolia really appreciated the Japanese aspiration to distribute this technology all over the world. As being one of the richest countries in the world in coal reserves, Mongolia is greatly interested in introducing this progressive technology, he emphasized.
