President meets Mayor of Seoul
PoliticsUlaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ On an official visit to the Republic of Korea, the President of Mongolia received Wednesday Park Won-soon, the Mayor of Seoul city.
Recalling his meetings with the Mongolian President during his visit to Mongolia and the Davos World Economic Forum, Park said he is happy to meet Elbegdorj in Seoul.
“We know that President Elbegdorj has gained achievements in the activities of promoting democracy and protecting human rights. It is noteworthy that Mongolia succeeded in making democratic revolution in a peaceful way without violence,” Park said.
The Mayor emphasized Seoul is paying attention to helping Mongolians residing in Seoul in social issues. Municipality of Seoul has established the Dongdaemun Global Center which provides Mongolians with legal and business services, he said. He added Seoul is studying a chance to impart business education to youth so that they could have better access to employment.
President Elbegdorj asked the Korean side to open the Mongolian weekend school in Seoul in order to create conditions for Mongolian children in Seoul to learn their language and national culture and tradition. He promised to focus attention on fostering ties and cooperation between the capital cities.
The same day, the President attended a ceremony of granting certificates of honorary citizens of Seoul, and held a meeting with his fellow country people residing in South Korea.
At the ceremony, Elbegdorj was awarded with the certificate of Honorary Citizen of Seoul, which was granted by the Seoul Mayor Park Won-soon.
