Australia to attend ASEM Summit on Ministerial level
PoliticsUlaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ On April 22, the Speaker of Mongolian parliament Z.Enkhbold received the Deputy-president of the Australian Senate Mr Gavin Marshall and the Australian Ambassador to Mongolia Mr John Langtry.
Z.Enkhbold wished them a pleasant stay in Mongolia and thanked for notifying that Australia will be taking part in the 11th ASEM Summit on Ministerial level.
In response, Mr Gavin Marshall thanked for the warm welcome and said a Minister for Foreign Affairs will represent Australia in the ASEM Summit. Regardless of the ruling political party that can be changed after the upcoming election, Australia values the friendship with Mongolia and is sending the person who is expected to be appointed the FM, he said.
Mongolia and Australia have a history of longtime friendship and of a support for each other on the international arena, said Z.Enkhbold. “I am confident that this friendship will continue, strengthening in favor of the regional stability and social and economic prosperity," he added.
The sides also exchanged views on the drop of global commodity prices, the Free Trade Agreement between Australia and China, and ensuring of the economic sustainability.
Present were also a deputy head of the Mongolia-Australia friendship caucus in the State Great Khural O.Baasankhuu MP and the State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs D.Gankhuyag.
