Unemployment rate increases in beginning of 2016

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/  By the end of February of 2016, Mongolia’s unemployment rate stood  at 8.3 percent, increasing 1.8 points against the same period of the previous year. According to multiple year average, labor market often declines in January and February--the inactive period for seasonal construction works, reports the National Employment Center.

There are 48 thousand people who are actively looking for jobs. A number of registered open workplaces on the market reached 7,000, of which 4,000 were filled with the help of labor organizations.  

Labor demand is the highest in industrial and service sectors, whereas it slackened in construction sector on seasonal reasons.

The mining sector had been creating the largest number of jobs compared to other spheres, until 2015, when the number of jobs decreased by nine thous., dropping to 41 thousand.
