Over 248 thousand livestock lost in dzud

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ As of March 1, this winter has taken lives of 248,910 livestock in 205 soums of 20 aimags. Among them, 34,764 were large cattle (horse, cow and camel) and 214,146 were sheep and goats.

Over 70 percent of the country’s territory is covered with snow, causing white dzud to 98 soums of 18 aimags. At the moment, 113 soums are in critical wintering conditions, reports the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA).
