Construction works of 27 km railroad branch line to be used for transporting equipment and devices and goods from Sainshand railway station to oil refinery, 17 km long auto road with a heavy load carrying capacity and 110 kWt power transmission line have been completed within scheduled period and handed over to the State Commission on October 8.

Photo exhibition in pedestrian tunnel in city center unveils life in UB
A pedestrian tunnel located in the Ulaanbaatar city center known as “Khunsnii 20 tunnel” has been renovated by public-private partnership of Elite Construction LLC and Governor's office of the Capital city. The redevelopment work has been performed from April 25 to June 25 of this year in accordance with an order of Ulaanbaatar city mayor S.Amarsaikhan with an aim to improve the living environment of the residents and cater for pedestrian safety needs.

Chief of the General Staff of the Mongolian Armed Forces newly appointed
President of Mongolia Khaltmaagiin Battulga forwarded a proposal on the appointment of Dovchinsurengyn Ganzorig to the position of Chief of the General Staff of the Mongolian Armed Forces to the State Great Khural. The proposal was discussed at a plenary session of the Parliament and backed by a vote of 76.9 percent.

35 MW generator installed at Darkhan Power Station
Under an agreement between the governments of Mongolia and Germany and Energy Efficiency Program I, a new 35-megawatt turbine generator was successfully installed in the Darkhan Power Station in Darkhan city. Aside from the establishment of a 35 MW generator, other units of the plant were upgraded under the project.

MCC Water Compact with USD 350 million investment introduced
Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. In September 2018, Government of Mongolia and Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC), an independent US government agency signed USD 350 million MCC Water Compact aimed at improving water supply of Ulaanbaatar city. This is the second MCC Compact to be implemented in Mongolia. On October 4, Millennium Challenge Account – Mongolia (MCA Mongolia), program implementing agency, organized an event to introduce the Water Compact.

Private sector’s role in mitigation of climate change highlighted
The Ministry of Environment and Tourism of Mongolia and the Ministry of Environment of Japan together with other corresponding bodies organized a meeting to provide information on the possibilities for carrying out projects and programs under the Joint Crediting Mechanism (JCM) set up in Mongolia as per the Low Carbon Development Partnership between the governments of Mongolia and Japan and to link businesspeople of the two countries.
