Mongolian Sumo Wrestlers to Compete in 'London Basho 2025'

Ulaanbaatar, October 13, 2025 /MONTSAME/. The professional sumo wrestlers of Japan will hold a tour event in London, the United Kingdom, from October 15 to 19, 2025.
The sumo wrestlers arrived in London on October 12, 2025, for the tournament, which is being organized as part of the Japan Sumo Association’s 100th anniversary celebrations. The last overseas exhibition match took place in Las Vegas, the United States, in 2005. Now, after 20 years, a basho is being hosted in London.
The previous sumo exhibition in London was held in 1991, meaning that British sumo fans will have the opportunity to witness the event in their country again after 34 years.
The Grand
Sumo Tournament in London will take place at the Royal Albert Hall, featuring
the 74th Yokozuna Hoshoryu Byambasuren Sugarragchaa, the 75th Yokozuna Onosato
Daiki Nakamura, former Ozeki Kirishima Lkhagvasuren Byambachuluun, and Ukrainian sumo
wrestler Aonoshiki Arata, among others. Ozeki Kotozakura will not participate
due to injury. The tournament will run for five days, concluding with the
crowning of a champion.
