Ulaanbaatar, November 8, 2023 /MONTSAME. On November 2, 2023, Chairman of the State Great Khural of Mongolia Zandanshatar Gombojav received the Lao delegation led by General Chansamone Chanyalath, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defense of the Lao People's Democratic Republic. 

At the outset of the Meeting, Chairman Zandanshatar welcomed the Lao delegation and expressed his satisfaction with receiving General Chansamone during his Official Visit to Mongolia on the eve of the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Mongolia and Laos.

Chairman Zandanshatar expressed confidence that General Chansamone's Visit would be a crucial catalyst for strengthening people-to-people ties, setting the direction for further cooperation in developing traditional friendly relations between the two countries in the coming years. 

The Chairman of the State Great Khural fondly recalled his Official Visit to the beautiful country Laos in 2009 and acknowledged that Laos is well-known to Mongolians as "a lovely country of thousand elephants" and that the Lao People's Democratic Republic is Mongolia's important partner in Southeast Asia. 

"The Official Visit of the President of the National Assembly of the Lao PDR Xaysomphone Phomvihane to Mongolia in September 2023 provided a strong impetus for assessing the past 60 years of traditional friendly relations between the two countries, defining the prospects and direction of cooperation for the coming 60 years," noted Chairman Zandanshatar.

The Speaker of Parliament of Mongolia asked to deliver his warm greetings to the President of the National Assembly Xaysomphone Phomvihane. The Speaker expresses gratitude for the Lao Government's decision to specially manufacture and donate 50 red wooden chairs and tables to the State Great Khural in support of the recent increase in members from 76 to 126.

General Chansamone expressed his delight in visiting Mongolia, a country of endless Mongol steppe located at the very heart of the Asian continent. Mr. Chansamone thanked Chairman Zandanshatar for taking the time to meet him. 

Deputy Prime Minister General Chansamone emphasized the importance of strengthening relations between the highest legislative bodies of Mongolia and Laos, expanding defense cooperation between the two countries, and supporting the legal basis of relations between the two countries. He noted that this Visit aims to bring the traditionally friendly relations between Mongolia and Laos to a new level.

Mongolia and the Lao PDR established diplomatic relations in 1962. Since then, the two countries have reciprocated high and the highest level visits, maintained friendly relations, and developed cooperation in trade, economy, culture, and humanity.
