Yuhan Corporation Joins 'Billions of Trees' National Movement

Ulaanbaatar, October 2, 2025 /MONTSAME/. The Republic of Korea’s “Yuhan” Corporation has joined the “Billions of Trees” National Movement and will jointly implement a reforestation and afforestation project in forest areas degraded by fire in Batsumber soum, Tuv aimag.
Under the project, 75 hectares of land affected by fire will be reforested by 2030, and subsequently, restoration will be carried out on 3,000 hectares of land.
The project launch held at the Forest Education and Research Center of the National University of Mongolia in Batsumber soum was attended by the President and Chief Executive Officer of Yuhan Corporation, Cho Wook Je, Executive Director of the Asian Forest Cooperation Organization (AFoCO), Park Chongho, Environmental and Green Development Policy Advisor to the President of Mongolia, Batkhuu Nyam-Osor, as well as representatives from the National Forest Agency of Mongolia, Tuv aimag administration, Inter-soum Forest Unit, and Forest Associations.
Pursuant to the initiative of the Office of the President of Mongolia and the Embassy of Mongolia in the Republic of Korea, the Asian Forest Cooperation Organization, with financial support from Yuhan Corporation, signed a Memorandum of Cooperation with the National Forest Agency of Mongolia and the “Billion Trees” NGO.
Yuhan Corporation’s subsidiary, “Yuhan Kimberly” Company, has planted and grown 10 million trees over 3,250 hectares in the Tujiin Nars in Selenge aimag over the past ten years, since 2003. In parallel, for over 20 years, it has actively worked to improve plantation forest management by maintaining and protecting reforested areas, providing environmental education, and ensuring local community participation.
In Batsumber soum, Tuv aimag, forest fires occurred in 1978, 1996, 2013, and 2017, affecting 18,000 hectares of forest land.
