200 thousand tons of refined coal to be stocked this summer

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ Within the works to ensure preparation of wintering of 2020-2021, Tavan Tolgoi Tulsh LLC has produced 30 thousand tons of refined coal since last March. The company plans to reserve 200 thousand tons of refined coal this summer for the consumption of households living in ger areas of the capital city.
With establishment of “Tavan Tolgoi Tulsh” LLC, refined coal factory within the national program for reduction of air pollution in 2017-2020, air pollution in the capital city decreased by 50 percent last winter. Around MNT 170 billion and MNT 11.2 billion were allocated from the state and the capital city budget to implement the aforementioned project.
202 thousand households used to use stoves in 2018 while 6 thousand households moved into apartments in 2019. About 30 thousand households solved their heating with electricity and other resources while 177 thousand households used stoves. These households consumed 474 thousand tons of improved coal in 2019-2020, which is 2 times lower than the amount of raw coal consumed in 2018.
Within
the scope of the works to recycle coal ash produced from the refined
coal burning at 100 percent and putting it into economic circulation, works to sort and
separately transport ash generated from households in ger area and manufacture
building materials are underway in Chingeltei and Songinokhairkhan districts.
Furthermore, research on using ash of thermal power stations in mining rehabilitation has been launched while another experiment showed that it is possible to make pellet with refined coal ash and to filter contaminated water of wastewater treatment plant.
In addition, construction of eastern regional refined coal plant in Nalaikh district commenced last April. The factory, which has annual capacity to produce 600 thousand tons of refined coal, is expected to be put into operation in November, 2020 and it will provide households in secluded districts of the capital city such as Gachuurt, Nalaikh, Baganuur and Bagakhangai with refined coal.
