FM Purevsuren holds press briefing on conclusion of ASEM events

On July 16, the 11th Asia-Europe Meeting concluded in Ulaanbaatar with the issuance of two main documents – Ulaanbaatar Declaration and Chair’s Statement. Later on the day, Minister of Foreign Affairs L.Purevsuren held a press conference to brief journalists on the whole process of hosting the biennial high level meeting.

He said, “After 18 months of preparation, we’ve finally concluded the Summit. As you’ve heard at the previous conference attended by Presidents of Mongolia, Myanmar, European Commission and European Council and Prime Minister of Slovakia, the Summit has been successfully held”.
Foreign Minister Purevsuren stated some numbers which indicate the broad scope of ASEM11. Overall, 5 thousand and 5 hundred eighty delegates came to Mongolia to attend 9 side events and high-level meeting of ASEM for the last couple of months.
For only the summit, some 2 thousand and three hundred foreign delegates, high officials and media representatives stayed in Ulaanbaatar. During the meeting, about 9,000 Mongolians were actively contributing their efforts and hard work into making the organization run smoothly. “For a total sum, we’ve estimated that some 20 thousand people were involved in ASEM events that has continued since last April”, he said.
And Foreign Minister Purevsuren concluded his speech by sincerely thanking everyone who were involved in various organizational tasks, who helped making the Summit a success including journalists, who provided aids, and the public without whom all of this would be impossible.
