Ministers of Environment, Foreign Affairs Discuss COP17 Preparation

April 15, 2026 /MONTSAME/. Minister of Foreign Affairs Battsetseg Batmunkh met
with Minister of Environment and Climate Change Sandag-Ochir Tsend on April 13
to exchange views on several pressing issues within the framework of
inter-ministerial cooperation.
During the
meeting, the parties discussed preparations and organizational matters for the
17th Conference of the Parties (COP17) to the United Nations Convention to
Combat Desertification, as well as the progress and financing of projects and
programs being implemented under international cooperation.
In her remarks,
Minister Battsetseg emphasized that Mongolia places great importance on
actively and effectively cooperating with the international community in
addressing climate change and combating desertification. She highlighted the
need to improve coordination among relevant institutions and accelerate
result-oriented projects as part of the preparations for COP17.
She also noted
the importance of expanding cooperation with certain countries and
international organizations, increasing sources of funding, and enhancing the
effectiveness of ongoing projects.
