Mongolian Wrestlers Bring Home 8 Medals from Asian Championships

April 14, 2026 /MONTSAME/. The Senior Asian Wrestling Championships in
freestyle wrestling were held in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan.
Around 270
athletes from 22 countries competed in the tournament, where Mongolia’s male
and female wrestlers won a total of eight medals—one gold, three silver, and
four bronze—returning home with a strong performance. The women’s team placed
third overall, earning the bronze team trophy. Meanwhile, the men’s team
collected two silver and one bronze medal, finishing sixth overall with 83
points. In the team standings, Iran took first place, followed by India and
Japan, with Bahrain and Kyrgyzstan also placing among the top teams.
Honored Athlete of Mongolia Tulga Tumur-Ochir said, “I came to the Asian Championships
with high ambitions, but I couldn’t quite take first place. I will carefully
analyze my mistakes and aim to improve my performance at the Asian Games and
the World Championships. This achievement was made possible thanks to my great
coaches, teammates, and our collective effort.”
