Tuv Aimag Producing 14 Key Food Products Under ‘Food Revolution’ Program

Ulaanbaatar, April 9, 2026 /MONTSAME/. President Khurelsukh Ukhnaa visited Tuv aimag following a meeting with residents of Nalaikh District.
During his visit,
the President presented updates on policy implementation, socio-economic
condtions, ongoing programs, and proposed legislation, including a draft law on
recalling member of Parliament. Citizens expressed full support for the draft
law.
The President
highlighted that the country’s economy has grown by 6.8%, with GDP per capita
exceeding USD 7,000. Trade and investment have increased, foreign currency
reserves have reached USD 7 billion, and the country’s credit rating has hit a
historic high. He also noted the expansion of foreign relations and successful
state visits that have elevated Mongolia’s international standing and promoted
its cultural heritage globally.
Major construction projects are underway in the aimag. The first two 300MW units of the 600MW Buuruljuut power plant are now supplying electricity to the central grid. A 150-set primary school has been commissioned in Batsumber soum, while plans are underway to build the 2,200-seat “Tuv Arena” youth center in Zuunmod.
In
addition, road expansion projects include upgrading the Ulaanbaatar-Zuunmod
highway to four lanes and connecting 122 km of roads in Ugtaaltsaidam, Tseel,
and Zaamar to the national road network.
While
serving as Prime Minister, President Khurelsukh made a decision to establish
the “National Museum of Archaeology and Ethnography” in Zuunmod city aimed at
studying, preserving, and promoting both tangible and intangible heritage. It is
expected to open next year, with 80 percent of work completed.
Under
the “Food Revolution”program, businesses and citizens in Tuv aimag have
received loans totaling MNT 71 billion. As a result, the aimag now produces 14
out of 19 major food products domestically and fully meets its demand for
potatoes, vegetables, grain, and animal feed.
Within
the “White Gold” program, five factories and 26 workshops have been
established, contributing to GDP output exceeding MNT 192 billion, up by about
20 percent compared to the same period of last year.
In
the aimag, the national sheep shearing championship was organized for the first
time under the auspice of the President. The event is planned to be expanded.
As part of the “Billions of Trees” national movement, Tuv aimag has pledged to plant and grow 20 million trees. In line with the plan, the aimag’s authority is carrying out tree planting, landscaping, and the development of green spaces with investments from the government, private sector, and both domestic and foreign sources.
