Athlete Enkhriilen Secures Silver Medal

February 9, 2026 /MONTSAME/. Mongolian athlete and two-time bronze medalist
at the World Championships, Enkhriilen Lkhagvatogoo, won a silver medal at the first Grand Slam tournament of the 2026 judo season in Paris, France.
In the
52nd edition of the tournament, Mongolia was represented by 15
athletes, competing in four men’s and five women’s weight categories. Among
them, judoka Enkhriilen won the only medal for the Mongolian team.
She
received a bye in the opening round, then defeated Spain’s Laura Vazquez to
advance directly to the semifinals. There, she overcame Croatia’s Iva Oberan to
reach the final. In the gold medal match, Enkhriilen was defeated by Brazil’s
Rafaela Silva, Olympic champion and two-time world champion, earning the silver
medal. This marks her first-ever medal at the Paris Grand Slam.
In the women’s
48kg category, judoka Narantsetseg Ganbaatar took fifth place. She defeated
France’s Morgane Annes and Spain’s Laura Abelenda to win her pool. However, she
lost in the semifinals to China’s Wenna Zhuang, and then in the bronze medal
match to another Chinese judoka, Hui Xinran.
A total of 78 countries took part in the Paris Grand Slam, with judokas from 21 nations winning medals. Mongolia ranked 13th in the medal table, with one silver.
