Special Attention Requested for Visa Issuance to COP17 Participants

Ulaanbaatar, February 3, 2026 /MONTSAME/. UNCCD Executive Secretary Yasmine Fouad has requested special attention be given to visa issuance for delegates attending the 17th Conference of the Parties (COP17), which Mongolia will host in August this year. The request was made during her meeting today with Deputy Foreign Minister Amartuvshin Gombosuren, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported.
Deputy Minister Amartuvshin noted that Mongolia has been
consistently been one of the countries that firmly support the goals and
mandate of the UNCCD, therefore decided to host the COP17, which is scheduled
to be held on August 17-28. He also emphasized that the Ministry of
Foreign Affairs will provide comprehensive support to ensure the successful
organization of the conference and highlighted the need to work more closely
with the UNCCD Secretariat.
Executive Secretary Yasmine Fouad expressed her
appreciation that as the host country of COP17, Mongolia is diligently
fulfilling its honorable role. She also informed that the high-level and
ministerial meetings to be held during the conference are scheduled for August
23.
