Mongolia to Commemorate 120th Birth Anniversary of Renowned Writer D. Natsagdorj

Ulaanbaatar, January 21, 2026 /MONTSAME/. This year, Mongolia will commemorate the 120th birth anniversary of prominent writer, poet, and playwright Natsagdorj Dashdorj, the founder of modern Mongolian literature.
In this regard, the Government decided at its session today,
January 21, to establish a working group tasked with organizing the anniversary
events and drafting an action plan.
Natsagdorj Dashdorj, a poet, playwright, and one of the most
influential figures in modern Mongolian history, was born on November 17, 1906,
in Gun Galuutai, located in what was then Darkhan Chin Van Khoshuu of Tusheet
Khan Aimag, present-day Bayandelger soum of Tuv aimag.
Beginning in 1921, he worked as a clerk at the Ministry of
Military Affairs, served as an assistant to the Commander-in-Chief of the Army, Sukhbaatar Damdin, and held the position of Secretary of the
Military Council. He later devoted himself to journalism, science, and cultural
institutions. From 1931, he worked as a research fellow at the Institute of
Science, became Head of the History and Linguistics Department of the same
institute in 1934, and in 1937 served as a writer at the Central Theatre.
