Prime Minister of Mongolia Visits Gantsmod Port in the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region of the People's Republic of China

Ulaanbaatar, May 15, 2025 /MONTSAME/. Prime Minister of Mongolia Oyun-Erdene Luvsannamsrai visited the Gantsmod Port in the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region of the People’s Republic of China on May 14, 2025. During the visit, Chairman of the Board of Directors of China Energy Group Zou Lei paid a courtesy call on the Prime Minister of Mongolia.
In commemoration of the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Mongolia and the People's Republic of China, the two countries agreed to fully resolve the projects that were in the process of negotiation. One of these is the Gashuunsukhait-Gantsmod Cross-Border Railway Project, which is ranked first among the 14 mega projects of the joint Government. The railway project is a historic achievement in the relations and cooperation between the two countries, emphasized Premier Oyun-Erdene.
Meeting with representatives of Chinese coal purchasing enterprises
Prime Minister Oyun-Erdene met with representatives of Chinese coal purchasing enterprises and exchanged views on the challenges, regulations, and some issues that need to be resolved in the coal trade. The Premier noted the importance of resolving these issues through mutually beneficial, stable, and long-term cooperation. The Prime Minister also stated that a variety of sales methods should be introduced in the coal trade, and favorable conditions for equal and mutually beneficial cooperation between the business owners of the countries should be facilitated.
Prime Minister Oyun-Erdene receives Secretary of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Regional Committee of the Chinese Communist Party Sun Shaocheng
Mongolian Prime Minister Oyun-Erdene Luvsannamsrai received Secretary of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Regional Committee of the Chinese Communist Party Sun Shaocheng during the visit to the Gantsmod border-port.
The two sides expressed satisfaction in witnessing the historic event in the relations and cooperation between the two countries, which is the launching of Gashuunsukhait-Gantsmod cross-border railway construction, the second cross-border railway to be built after the Zamyn-Uud-Ereen railways established under the 1955 Agreement between Mongolia and the People's Republic of China
At the meeting, the two sides agreed to conduct long-term and stable cooperation in coal trade, expand cooperation in the mineral resources sector, and deepen cooperation in renewable energy, environmental protection, desertification, and combating yellow dust storms. The two sides also exchanged views on the development of cross-border tourism, particularly on establishing the legal environment for car tourism, and agreed to closely collaborate to make preparations for the successful implementation of the Mongolia-China EXPO-5 Event.
