Pakistan Expresses Willingness to Open its Embassy in Mongolia

Minister of Mongolia Oyun-Erdene Luvsannamsrai met Prime Minister of the Islamic
Republic of Pakistan Shehbaz Sharif during
his visit to Pakistan to participate in the Meeting
of the Council of Heads of Government of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization
member states and observer states held in Islamabad, the capital of Pakistan on
October 15-16, 2024.
Prime Minister Oyun-Erdene stated the country’s commitment to
strengthening and expanding the friendly relations and cooperation between the
two countries and developing mutually beneficial cooperation in the trade,
economy, agriculture, tourism, and culture sectors.
The parties emphasized the importance of increasing the
trade turnover of the two countries, particularly cooperation in agriculture
and light industry, and exchanged views on possibilities of supplying halal meat,
wool, cashmere, and leather products from Mongolia to Pakistan and textiles from
Pakistan to Mongolia.
In connection with the intensification of the economic
corridor between Mongolia, China, and Russia, Premier Oyun-Erdene expressed the
country’s interest in learning from Pakistan’s experience in the construction
of the economic corridor between Pakistan and China.
Prime Minister of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan Shehbaz
Sharif suggested expanding trade and economic cooperation by
establishing an intergovernmental commission. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed
the country’s willingness to open Embassies reciprocally and requested Prime
Minister of Mongolia Oyun-Erdene to pay attention to visa facilitation.
Premier Shehbaz Sharif expressed Pakistan's interest in importing agricultural products from Mongolia, specifically wool, cashmere, leather, meat, and meat products, and emphasized his intention to focus on its realization.
Mongolia established diplomatic relations with the Islamic Republic of Pakistan on July 6, 1962, and the Ambassador of Mongolia to China is also concurrently accredited as Mongolia’s non-resident Ambassador to Pakistan and vice-versa.
