Khishigsaikhan Becomes Asian Marathon Champion
SportsUlaanbaatar, January 22, 2024 /MONTSAME/ Mongolian athlete Khishigsaikhan Galbadrakh won the gold medal at the Asian Marathon Championships 2024 in Hong Kong.
The 19th Asian Marathon Championships was
organised at the same time as the Standard Chartered Hong Kong Marathon which
lures tens of thousands of competitors every year.
With a
timing of 2:33:50, Khishigsaikhan becomes the first Mongolian women athlete to
be crowned the Asian marathon champion.
At the Asian Marathon Championships, Mongolian athlete Ser-Od
won the silver medal in 2008 and the gold medal in 2013 while Olonbayar and
Byambajav claimed the bronze medal in 2015 and 2017 respectively.
