National Book Festival kicks off at Sukhbaatar square

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. Under the auspices of
Speaker of the State Great Khural G.Zandanshatar, the 31st National Book
Festival kicked off at the Sukhbaatar Square on May 20.
With the motto ‘Let’s Read More’, the book
festival will run for three days. In the framework of the implementation of the
Law on Public Holidays and Celebrations, the long-term development policy
of Mongolia ‘Vision-2050’, and Decree No.158 issued by the President of
Mongolia, the festival is being organized on a wider scale to promote public reading,
enrich the collection being kept by libraries, support
children's and youth's desire to learn, and disseminate knowledge.
From authors, poets,
and editors to critics and readers, all types of people and organizations
connected to books take part in the event.
This
time, more than 400 individuals and organizations are participating in the
festival to present their books. In addition, Director of the Maxim Gorky Literature Institute as well as several writers and publishers from
Russia are attending the event to present their bestselling books.
During the book
festival, a wide range of activities including exhibitions of newly published books and thematic books,
performances, book character parade, and calligraphy exhibition are planned to be held.
