General development plan for ‘New Zuunmod’ city approved by Government

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. At the regular Cabinet meeting on April 6, the development plan for the new Zuunmod city in Khushig Valley was approved, reported Minister of Construction and Urban Development B.Munkhbaatar.

 

The Minister highlighted that previous governments carried out studies, and approved plans to establish a city in Khushig Valley. For example, most recently, on January 19, 2019, the Government made the decision to establish the Aerocity city that was based near the new international airport. Furthermore, a resolution was approved by the State Great Khural on establishing the cities of new Zuunmod and Maidar. In its framework, the matter concerning Bogdkhan railroad and other infrastructure issues have been reflected in the general plan for new Zuunmod city, he highlighted.

 

He said, “The next stage will involve developing specific plans. With the approval of the general plan, blueprints are now being developed for the area where construction works will first be launched, which include the construction of infrastructure near the airport and logistics center. In other words, preparations will be carried out for certain engineering works, such as power and heating supply, wastewater treatment plant, reservoir, and flood dams.

 

According to a preliminary study, funds of about MNT 500 billion are required for carrying out the works. The Government has allocated MNT 33 billion as investment for the engineering infrastructure works this year. 


Construction works for the engineering infrastructure are planned to be launched in May.

 

In connection with the plan’s approval, an updated plan for Khushig Valley transportation and autoroad network will also be developed, highlighted Minister B.Munkhbaatar.
