Cooperation with ADB in education discussed

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ Minister
of Education and Science L.Enkh-Amgalan held a meeting with Director-General of the
Asian Development Bank’s East Asia Department Teresa Kho to discuss bilateral cooperation
in education.
Since the start of its
cooperation with Mongolia in 1991, ADB has implemented 432 projects and programs
totaling USD 3.73 billion. In the education sector, USD 185.28 million funding
has been provided in the forms of loans, assistance and technical assistance.
At the meeting, Minister
L.Enkh-Amgalan thanked the ADB for its support and proposed cooperating on two
projects to introduce performance and results-based financing and develop a
university complex for 5,000 students and a digital university in the satellite
city to be built near the new airport in Khushig Valley.
In her remarks at the end of
the meeting, Ms. Teresa Kho said the ADB’s investments to education in Mongolia
have to be fruitful and pledged support to new projects and programs on the
improvement of education quality.
