This year marks 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Mongolia and Japan

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ The 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Mongolia and Japan falls on February 24, 2022. The two countries established diplomatic relations in 1952.
Japan is Mongolia’s important third neighbor and strategic partner with shared values. Relations and cooperation have developed rapidly between Mongolia and Japan since 1990 and the two countries are successfully collaborating in bilateral and regional efforts.
On January 17, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs B.Munkhjin and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Mongolia Kobayashi Hiroyuki held a press conference marking the beginning of the celebration of the anniversary.
The Government of Mongolia extensively celebrates anniversary of diplomatic relations between Mongolia and Japan. At its meeting on September 8, 2021, the Cabinet declared 2022 the 'Year of Friendship and Exchange of Mongolian and Japanese Children and Youth’, setting up a working group in charge of the anniversary celebration.
The anniversary of half a century of diplomatic relations between Mongolia and Japan will be celebrated throughout the year and numerous political, economic, and cultural events will be organized to strengthen the friendship of people and relations between the two countries. In particular, on the occasion of the 50th anniversary, high-level visits, academic conferences, and an honorary reception will take place. Moreover, there are plans to implement exchange programs for children and youth, hold a photo exhibition, make a documentary, release books and other publications about Mongolia-Japan relations, issue postage stamps, and organize a business forum for partnerships between companies of the two countries and other events for promotion of bilateral cultural relations.
The year-round celebratory activities will have an important role in strengthening mutual understanding and trust between the people of the two countries and further expanding bilateral relations and cooperation.
