Cultural heritage structure ‘Goojingiin Undur’ taken under protection

Ulaanbaatar/MONTSAME/. Governor of the capital city and Mayor of Ulaanbaatar D.Sumiyabazar issued December 28 an Ordinance on Taking a cultural heritage structure – a two-storey building called ‘Goojingiin Undur’, which was built in 1914 and where T. Namnansuren, the first Prime Minister of the government of Bogd Khan, used to live in, into protection.   


According to the ordinance, chief of the Ulaanbaatar Police Department R.Otgonjargal was instructed to organize measures to take the ‘Goojingiin Undur,’ located in the 6th khoroo of Bayanzurkh district, under police protection in order to prevent its destruction and damage.


With the ordinance, the Mayor also instructed Director of the Capital City Department of Culture and Arts J.Damdintseren to organize renovation works of the building in the fourth quarter of 2022 without altering its original design and structure. It was also instructed to operate the building as a museum and establish a small park.


Moreover, the Legal Department of the Governor’s Office of the Capital city was given a duty to examine an issue of the transfer of the land under the Goojingiin Undur to private ownership in violation of the law, to have it investigated by a legal organization, and to revoke the relevant decision.

 

Currently, a 470sq.m land under the building is reportedly owned by a citizen M since 2014. With the ordinance, the citizen’s land ownership license has been revoked.
