Ulaanbaatar Mayor meets Ambassador of France

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ Governor
of the capital city and Mayor of Ulaanbaatar D.Sumiyabazar held a meeting with
Ambassador of the French Republic to Mongolia Sebastien Surun.
At the beginning of the
meeting, Ulaanbaatar Mayor D.Sumiyabazar congratulated the Ambassador on his
appointment, saying “It would be a pleasure to work together in strengthening
relations and cooperation between cities of the two countries and expanding
mutually-beneficial cooperation”
The Law on Legal Status of Ulaanbaatar
has been successfully amended after 27 years, stressing that the city will gain
the legal capacity to develop independently when the law comes into force on January
1, 2021. The law will also enable the Ulaanbaatar city government to issue
bonds and grant concessions, said the Governor, pledging support to the joint project
on cable car transport.
French Ambassador Sebastien
Surun asked the governor to provide information on major projects and programs to be
carried out in Ulaanbaatar next year and undertook to support acceleration of
the public transport project and cooperate in culture, arts and sports sectors.
At the end of the meeting, the
sides exchanged views on landscaping the Paris street, a symbol of bilateral
relations, which is located in the 1st khoroo of Sukhbaatar district between Peace
Avenue and Narny Zam along Selbe River.
