2021 Annual Review Meeting of UNICEF Country Programme held

Ulaanbaatar/MONTSAME/. On December 21, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the UNICEF Mongolia jointly organized the Annual
Review Meeting of the Government of Mongolia and UNICEF Country Programme
2017-2022. The
meeting was attended by over 80 participants representing the Government, NGOs,
and development partners.
In their opening remarks, Deputy Minister of Labour and Social Protection S.
Zulpkhar and UNICEF Representative in Mongolia Evariste Kouassi-Komlan emphasized
the effective cooperation between the Government of Mongolia and the UNICEF and
the valuable contribution of the Country Programme to strengthening children's health care, education, child
protection and child-friendly communities, improving child-friendly social
protection, conducting research and evaluation on reducing children’s poverty, disseminating
good experiences of world countries and developing legal environment in
Mongolia.
Deputy Minister appreciated that social protection measures
during the pandemic, particularly children’s social protection plan such as the
increase of the cash contribution via the child money program played an
important role to reduce poverty.
UNICEF Representative in Mongolia Evariste Kouassi-Komlan
noted effective works of the Government of Mongolia to handle and prevent the
COVID-19 pandemic and highlighted the active cooperation for the continuity of
children’s education and development, particularly to improve the quality and
access to e-learning and ensure the safety and health of children in
kindergarten and schools.
During the meeting, representatives of relevant ministries provided
presentations on the implementation of three objectives: child survival and
development; creating a healthy learning environment with equal enrollment; and
developing an inclusive social policy and protection system.
