‘Morin Khuur’ short film screened at Bangkok ASEAN Film Festival

aims of promoting Mongolian cinematography and traditional heritage, the short
film ‘Morin Khuur (The Horsehead Fiddle)’ directed by Joshua Sternlicht was
screened for the very first time for the audience of Thailand and the South
East Asian region during the annual Bangkok ASEAN Film Festival organized by
the Ministry of Culture of Thailand.
Held at SF World Cinema in Bangkok, the event was attended by Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Culture of Thailand Yuthika Isarangkun Na Ayudhya and other officials as well as film enthusiasts.
The ‘Morin Khuur’ film is a work depicting the impact of modernization and climate change on the traditional way of life in Mongolia.
Following the screening of
the film, a discussion took place which was moderated by Deputy Director of
Thai Film Archive Kong Rithdee. During the discussion, Ambassador of Mongolia
to the Kingdom of Thailand A.Tumur introduced the recently approved Law on
Cinematography and exchanged information. Director of Acquisitions at
Sahamongkol Film International Group Panu Aree noted that Mongolian films are
new to the Thai audience, and highlighted the opportunity for Mongolian film
producers to introduce their works in the country.
